Four Bangladeshi Men Held for Gurgaon Robbery, Hostage

Four Bangladeshi men were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly robbing a house in Sector 23 and holding a family of three, including a minor, hostage last week. The accused attempted to escape during the arrest operation and sustained injuries, an officer said.

Accused Identified

The accused have been identified as Hilal, Mamo Khan, Mohammad Khairul Arman, and Mohammad Maman. They are residents of Wazirabad in Delhi and have several prior criminal cases registered against them, according to the police.

Incident Details

The victim registered a case at the Palam Vihar police station, alleging that four unidentified men broke open the iron grille of a rear window and entered his house on the night of June 4. They held him, his wife, and their 11-year-old daughter hostage, threatening to kill them if they alerted anyone. The robbers fled with gold and diamond jewellery, cash, and other valuables worth approximately Rs 9 lakh.

Investigation and Arrest

Police launched an investigation based on the complaint. “We traced the four accused to Bajghera underpass on Dwarka Road. When we tried to arrest them, they attempted to flee. In the process, Khairul Arman suffered injuries to both legs, while Maman and Hilal suffered injuries to one leg each. Mamo Khan sustained an arm injury,” said ACP (crime) Naveen Sharma. All four were admitted to a hospital.

Modus Operandi

“Preliminary investigation has found that the accused carried out surveillance before targeting the house. It is part of their regular modus operandi,” the ACP added.

Criminal Records

Records show Hilal has 12 cases registered against him in Delhi, including theft, robbery, Arms Act violations, and dacoity. Mamo Khan has one theft case in Delhi. Khairul Arman has eight cases in Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, including theft, robbery, dacoity, offences under the Gangster Act, and murder. Maman has been booked in three cases in Gurgaon and Delhi related to theft, robbery, and dacoity.

Planned Escape

Police said the accused had planned to flee to Bangladesh after the robbery but were caught before they could leave.
