Four of family killed in Trichy car-truck collision

Trichy: A tragic road accident on the Thuraiyur-Musiri state highway near Jambunathapuram in Trichy district claimed the lives of four family members on Tuesday. The collision occurred when the multi-utility vehicle (MUV) they were traveling in crashed into an oncoming truck. Three individuals, including a child, sustained injuries.

Victims identified

The deceased have been identified as Murugesan (50) and his son Karthik (28), residents of Perambalur, along with their relative S Balasubramanian (31) and his wife Kavitha (25) from Srirangam. The injured include Murugesan's wife Chithra (45), his daughter Narmatha (28), and Balasubramanian's one-year-old son Yegan.

Details of the accident

On Tuesday afternoon, the family was traveling from Srirangam to perform rituals at a temple in Kodumudi, Erode district. Balasubramanian was driving the vehicle. As they neared Jambunathapuram near Musiri, he lost control, causing the car to veer into the path of a truck coming from the opposite direction. Balasubramanian and Karthik died at the scene.

Rescue and medical response

Jambunathapuram police arrived promptly and transported the injured to Musiri Government Hospital. Murugesan and Kavitha were later shifted to Trichy MGMGH but succumbed to their injuries despite treatment. Authorities have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
