Villagers from Velsao, Pale, and Cansaulim in Goa, who are affected by the rail double-tracking project, expressed their disappointment after the hearing scheduled for Monday before the Inspector of Survey and Land Records (ISLR) was postponed to June.
Hearing Postponed
Locals gathered at the ISLR court located at the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex in Margao in the morning. However, a lawyer representing South Western Railways requested an adjournment.
Railways Seek Additional Time
According to Orville Dourado Rodrigues, a founding member of Goencho Ekvott, a forum of locals opposing the rail double-track project, the Roznama indicates that in November 2025, the railways were granted additional time to submit title documents for the disputed land.
The postponement has left the affected villagers frustrated as they await a resolution to their concerns regarding the double-tracking project.
