Israeli Soldier Killed in Hezbollah Attack

An Israeli soldier was killed in southern Lebanon after an improvised explosive device (IED) struck a military vehicle during combat operations, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed on Thursday morning.

The fallen soldier was identified as Master Sergeant (Res.) Alexander Filin, 29, from Haifa. He served in the headquarters of the IDF's 36th Division. Seven other soldiers were injured in the incident, including the deputy commander of the 36th Division, a colonel. Three soldiers suffered moderate injuries, while four sustained light injuries. All were evacuated for medical treatment.

According to the IDF, the attack occurred during operations in southern Lebanon when explosive devices were activated against Israeli troops. Four soldiers were wounded by shrapnel from the initial blast and evacuated. Shortly after, a second explosion hit an evacuation vehicle, injuring another soldier.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Iran-backed Hezbollah launched explosive-laden drones targeting Israeli forces and an evacuation team, wounding five soldiers, one of them seriously. In response, IDF forces conducted artillery strikes against Hezbollah infrastructure in the area.
