In a significant breakthrough, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district have arrested two individuals, including a government teacher, for allegedly aiding Pakistan-based terrorists. The arrests were made following a joint operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and security agencies.
Details of the Arrest
The arrested individuals have been identified as a government school teacher and another local resident. According to official sources, they were providing logistical support, including shelter and transportation, to terrorists operating in the region. Incriminating materials, such as mobile phones, SIM cards, and documents, were recovered from their possession.
Modus Operandi
Investigations revealed that the duo was in touch with handlers across the border and facilitated the movement of terrorists. They were also allegedly involved in reconnaissance of security forces' positions. The teacher, posted in a remote area, used his position to gather information and pass it on to the handlers.
Security Response
A senior police officer stated that the arrests are part of a larger crackdown on terror networks in the region. 'We have busted a module that was actively assisting terrorists. Further investigations are underway to identify other associates,' the officer added. The area has been a focus of anti-terror operations in recent months.
This development underscores the challenges faced by security forces in countering terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, where local support networks often aid militants. The arrests are expected to provide crucial leads to dismantle the support infrastructure.
