Bokaro: A tragic hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a 28-year-old mother of three near Chintankhari forest in Giridih on Saturday. An unidentified SUV allegedly rammed into her and fled the scene, leaving her dead on the spot.

Victim Identified

The victim was identified as Rani Devi, a resident of Jamuniyatand village. She died instantly, while her husband Jiblal Sao narrowly escaped with his life.

Incident Details

According to police and family members, Rani Devi and her husband were returning home after consulting a doctor in Birajpur under Birni police station limits. Their motorcycle reportedly ran out of fuel near the forest area on the Palonjia Dhaba-Chintankhari-Jutha Aam road. Consequently, the couple began walking, while another youth accompanying them pushed the motorcycle.

Jiblal alleged that a speeding SUV coming from the opposite direction struck his wife with great force. The impact threw her onto the road. In a desperate attempt to save himself, he jumped into a roadside ditch.

He further claimed that the driver did not stop after the collision and instead ran over Rani Devi's head before fleeing, causing her instant death.

Police Response

Police from Bharkatta Outpost reached the spot soon after receiving information. Officials stated that an FIR will be registered once a written complaint is received. Efforts are underway to trace the absconding vehicle through CCTV footage and local inputs.

The family is in shock, mourning the loss of a young mother. The incident highlights the dangers of reckless driving in the area.
