Three DRG Jawans Injured in IED Blast in Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: Three jawans of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) sustained injuries after an improvised explosive device (IED), planted by Maoists in the past, detonated during a demining operation in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on Saturday, police said.

This was the first blast incident linked to Maoist activity since the state was declared free from armed Maoists on March 31.

The explosion occurred in a forest area under the Chhotebethiya police station limits, adjoining Narayanpur district, where a DRG team was carrying out a demining operation to locate and defuse IEDs planted by Maoists in the past, an official said.
