Ferozepur: Two youths drowned while attempting to cross into Pakistan via the Satluj River in the border village of Habib Wala, Ferozepur district. The incident occurred on the night of May 2 and 3, according to police reports.

The victims have been identified as Mukhtiar Singh, aged 20, and Manpreet Singh alias Mannu, aged 35, both residents of Habib Wala. Police investigations reveal that a man named Ganga Singh allegedly lured the two youths into the river with the promise of helping them cross into Pakistan.

Police Action

The Sadar Ferozepur police have registered a case against Ganga Singh under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurnam Singh, the investigating officer from Ferozepur Sadar police station, stated that an informant reported that Ganga Singh, also a resident of Habib Wala, incited the two youths to cross the border. The officer added that both individuals drowned in the deep river waters. The accused, Ganga Singh, is currently absconding, and police are conducting a search to apprehend him.
