Video Emerges Showing US Tomahawk Missile Strike Near Iranian School, Contradicting Trump's Claims
A video released on Sunday has surfaced, appearing to depict a US Tomahawk cruise missile striking in close proximity to an elementary school in the southern Iranian town of Minab. According to reports from the Iranian news agency Mehr, this incident resulted in the deaths of at least 168 individuals, sparking international controversy and raising serious questions about the accuracy of US military targeting.
Footage Details the Devastating Attack on IRGC Naval Base
The footage, reportedly filmed from a construction site opposite a naval base operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), shows the missile impacting the base facility located beside the school. As the strike occurs, large plumes of smoke and debris are visible billowing into the air, with dust and smoke also rising from the area surrounding the school. Satellite imagery analysis indicates that several other buildings within the naval base were hit during the attack, which took place on February 28.
Tomahawk missiles are long-range, precision-guided weapons capable of traveling approximately 1,000 miles. The US Department of Defense states that these missiles are pre-programmed with a flight path before launch and guide themselves autonomously to their targets. Each missile measures around 20 feet in length, has a wingspan of about eight and a half feet, and carries a warhead with explosive power roughly equivalent to 300 pounds of TNT.
Trump Denies Intentional Targeting Amidst Mounting Evidence
US President Donald Trump has firmly denied that American forces intentionally targeted the school. When questioned by a reporter about whether the United States bombed the school, Trump responded, "No. In my opinion and based on what I’ve seen, that was done by Iran." In contrast, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth acknowledged that the Pentagon is investigating the reports but insisted that "the only side that targets civilians is Iran."
Iranian Reports Highlight Civilian Casualties and School Impact
Iranian state media identified the attack site as the Shajare Tayyebeh girls’ elementary school in Minab, located in Hormozgan province near the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Initial reports from the Iranian Red Crescent indicated more than 100 fatalities and nearly 100 injuries. The rights group Hengaw is currently investigating the identities of the students reportedly killed, noting that the school was conducting morning classes at the time of the incident, which underscores the potential for significant civilian harm.
This video evidence challenges the official US narrative and adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region. As investigations proceed, the international community watches closely, with concerns mounting over the implications for civilian safety and military accountability in conflict zones.
