The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has reported that a 15-year-old boy from Panjgur district in Balochistan was killed after nearly three months of enforced disappearance. The incident was reported by The Balochistan Post on July 2, 2026.
Details of the Incident
According to the BYC, the teenager, identified as the son of Faiz Muhammad and a resident of Chitkan in Panjgur, was taken away during Ramadan. His body was reportedly discovered on Airport Road on June 29. The committee alleged that he was killed by what it described as "death squads," a term commonly used by Baloch activists to refer to alleged state-backed armed groups.
BYC's Condemnation and Call for Action
The BYC strongly condemned the incident, calling it another case of enforced disappearance followed by an extrajudicial killing. The organization questioned why its own leaders face legal proceedings while those responsible for such killings are not brought to justice. It urged international human rights organizations and the global community to intervene and examine the worsening human rights conditions in Balochistan.
Pattern of Disappearances
This death is reportedly the 10th case reported by the BYC in June where individuals subjected to enforced disappearance were later found dead, often bearing signs of torture or killed in incidents characterized as staged encounters. The duration of disappearances in these cases ranged from a few days to several months, as highlighted by The Balochistan Post.
Long-standing Issue
Enforced disappearances have been a major concern in Balochistan for over two decades. Local rights organizations and international human rights bodies have repeatedly documented allegations linking Pakistani security forces and intelligence agencies to enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, according to The Balochistan Post.
