Expert Comments
Pawan Sharma, honorary wildlife warden and founder of RAWW NGO, stated: "We will have to get further details about this leopard sighting from the campus security. Leopards are often sighted at the Powai campus over the years because the Sanjay Gandhi National Park is quite close by."
Sharma added that they are in regular contact with the IIT-B administration to advise on precautions during human-wildlife encounters.
Previous Sightings
Earlier this year, a leopard was also seen at Raheja Heights complex in Dindoshi and at Wagle industrial estate in Thane. Leopards frequently venture into human settlements late at night to hunt for food.
