A fresh batch of documents from the United States Department of Justice has unveiled a chilling facet of the life of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The files, linked to the federal probe into the financier, expose his detailed online shopping history from Amazon, which investigators and psychologists argue offers a disturbing window into his predatory behaviour in the years preceding his death.
Disturbing Purchases Listed in DOJ Files
The records, covering purchases made between 2014 and 2019, catalogue over 1,000 items bought via Epstein's Amazon account. As part of an ongoing review, the DOJ has examined and released approximately 750,000 files related to Epstein, with another 700,000 documents still under scrutiny. The department estimates the process may take a few more weeks to complete.
Among the most alarming items listed are schoolgirl uniforms, such as pleated skirts and full-body dresses, which were ordered in 2018 and delivered to his Manhattan home. The list also includes a $61.50 Sonic prostate massager, purchased just two days after Christmas in 2018, and bottles of an herbal supplement named Vagifirm, priced at $64.95, which claims to enhance female libido and breast firmness.
A Troubling Behavioural Profile
The shopping history extends beyond explicitly sexual items, painting a broader and more sinister picture. Epstein also bought an FBI costume, a pair of Israel Defense Forces combat pants, several sauna hats, and binoculars. Notably, the records show he purchased four books by Vladimir Nabokov, including the infamous novel Lolita, which centres on paedophilia.
Analysing the list, relational trauma psychologist Desiree Nazarian told the New York Post that the purchases were deeply revealing and not random. "The presence of these child-coded items alongside these sexual tools is so clinically alarming," she stated. Nazarian described the pattern as "predatory dynamics 101," indicative of a personality fuelled by domination, coercion, entitlement, and control.
Legal Proceedings and Lasting Impact
Jeffrey Epstein, a registered sex offender, was found dead in his New York jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death ended the criminal trial against him, but the continuous release of court and investigative documents, like these Amazon receipts, keeps shedding light on the extensive scope of his actions and the disturbing nature of his conduct.
