Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli Launches Major CSR Welfare Initiative in Palanganangudi Village

In a significant move to bolster community well-being, the Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli (OFT) has rolled out an extensive series of welfare activities targeting underprivileged residents of Palanganangudi village, located near Thiruverumbur. The initiative, launched on Friday, represents a concerted effort by the factory to enhance the quality of life for local communities through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

Partnership with World Community Service Centre Drives Comprehensive Support

OFT, operating as a key unit of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), is executing these welfare measures in collaboration with the World Community Service Centre (WCSC). This partnership aims to ensure the effective implementation of diverse programmes designed to address multiple facets of community development. The activities encompass a broad spectrum of support, including:

  • Organising medical camps to provide essential healthcare services
  • Distributing nutritional kits to improve dietary standards
  • Conducting de-addiction camps to combat substance abuse issues
  • Implementing various programmes focused on women's empowerment

Leadership Emphasises CSR Role in Fostering Inclusive Growth

Sanjay Shrivastava, IOFS, who serves as the chief general manager of OFT, highlighted the critical importance of CSR initiatives in promoting inclusive economic growth and strengthening the bond between industrial establishments and their surrounding communities. "Our CSR efforts are not just about compliance; they are about building sustainable connections and ensuring that growth benefits everyone," Shrivastava remarked during the launch event.

Tangible Contributions: Sewing Machines and Tree Saplings Distribution

As part of the welfare drive, OFT made substantial contributions to the village by donating sewing machines to selected beneficiaries, thereby supporting skill development and livelihood opportunities. Additionally, the factory distributed 300 tree saplings to villagers, encouraging environmental stewardship and green practices.

Factory representatives actively urged the community to adopt eco-friendly habits and take greater responsibility for ecological conservation. This dual focus on social welfare and environmental sustainability underscores OFT's holistic approach to CSR, aiming to create lasting positive impacts in Palanganangudi village and beyond.
