BioAsia 2026 Wraps Up with Unprecedented Success in Hyderabad

The 23rd edition of BioAsia concluded on Tuesday in Hyderabad, marking a significant milestone for the Telangana government as it highlighted record-breaking participation and a surge in business engagements. The event served as a powerful platform for the state to reinforce its strategic vision of becoming a global leader in TechBio and life sciences.

Telangana's Economic Vision and Life Sciences Leadership

At the valedictory session, Industries and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu outlined Telangana's ambitious goal of achieving a $3-trillion economy by 2047. He emphasized that life sciences have been identified as a pivotal growth driver in this economic roadmap. In a detailed fireside chat earlier during the summit, Minister Babu provided compelling statistics to underscore the state's dominance in this sector.

Telangana currently hosts over 2,000 life sciences companies, making it a central hub for innovation and production. The state contributes nearly one-third of India's total pharmaceutical production and accounts for approximately one-fifth of the country's pharmaceutical exports, solidifying its critical role in the national and global healthcare landscape.

Global Investment Interest and Summit Highlights

Minister Babu revealed that multiple global firms expressed strong interest in investing in Telangana during BioAsia 2026. Notable companies included Sanofi, Opella, Vaxxinova Animal Health, Tredence, and Rx Propellant, signaling growing international confidence in the state's business environment and infrastructure.

BioAsia 2026 was celebrated as the largest edition in its history, drawing an impressive 4,394 registrations. The summit facilitated more than 4,000 B2B meetings, which focused on forging partnerships, securing investments, and enhancing market access across key areas such as biopharma, medtech, and digital health.

Innovation and Startup Showcase

The event featured a vibrant display of innovation with over 120 startups participating. Among these, more than 40 startups exhibited cutting-edge solutions in diverse fields including medical devices, biomarkers, nutraceuticals, artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), and cell and gene therapy. This showcase highlighted the dynamic entrepreneurial spirit and technological advancements emerging from the region.

In a significant development, the research and innovation circle of Hyderabad launched the Telangana Hospital–Industry–Innovation Bridge. This initiative aims to strengthen healthcare innovation, promote translational research, and boost medtech manufacturing, fostering a collaborative ecosystem between hospitals, industries, and research institutions.
