Hero Vida's Ubex Electric Motorcycle Design Patented in India

Hero MotoCorp's dedicated electric mobility subsidiary, Vida, is making significant strides toward entering the competitive electric motorcycle market. The company has officially patented the design of its second electric bike, the Vida Ubex, in India, marking a crucial step in its domestic electrification strategy.

From Global Debut to Domestic Patent

The Vida Ubex was first unveiled internationally at the prestigious EICMA 2025 exhibition, where Hero MotoCorp showcased two distinct electric motorcycle concepts: the Ubex and Project VxZ. While the VxZ's design patent was filed earlier in India, this latest filing for the Ubex confirms that both projects are being rigorously evaluated for potential launch in the Indian market. This dual-patent approach underscores Hero's serious commitment to expanding its electric two-wheeler portfolio beyond scooters.

Design and Styling Details

In its patented form, the Vida Ubex presents as a compact yet muscular naked electric motorcycle with a pronounced streetfighter character. The design features an angular front end, an upright riding posture, and minimalistic bodywork that emphasizes its aggressive stance. A mono projector headlamp, flanked by sleek LED daytime running lights, enhances its bold visual appeal. The motorcycle is equipped with telescopic forks at the front, a monoshock suspension at the rear, and disc brakes on both wheels for reliable stopping power.

Key Technical and Feature Highlights

One of the most prominent design elements is the large battery pack, strategically mounted low in the frame to optimize weight distribution and stability. Power is anticipated to be delivered by a mid-mounted electric motor that drives the rear wheel, a configuration consistent with other Vida concepts previously revealed. Although detailed technical specifications remain undisclosed, the cockpit is expected to house a modern TFT display with comprehensive connected technology. This will likely include smartphone integration and turn-by-turn navigation, enhancing the riding experience with smart features.

Launch Strategy and Market Positioning

Hero MotoCorp has not yet announced a specific launch timeline for the Vida Ubex, and road-testing prototypes have not been spotted in India. However, when the motorcycle eventually arrives, it is projected to be marketed through Hero's premium Premia dealerships and dedicated Vida outlets, targeting discerning customers seeking high-performance electric mobility solutions. This move aligns with the growing demand for electric vehicles in India and positions Hero Vida to compete in the burgeoning electric motorcycle segment.
