Prayagraj: Allahabad University has officially announced the commencement of the Postgraduate Admission Test (PGAT) for the academic session 2026-27. The announcement was made by Director (Admission) Prof. Kapinder, who confirmed that the online registration process will begin on May 5 and continue until May 25.
Registration Details
Applications will be accepted exclusively through the official portal at https://aupravesh2026.cbtexam.in/. Prof. Kapinder also stated that the PGAT-2026 information bulletin is now available on the university website for prospective candidates.
Two Categories of Admission
The admissions will be conducted under two categories: PGAT-I for conventional courses and PGAT-II for non-conventional courses. While PGAT-I will be conducted in both online and offline modes, PGAT-II will be conducted solely in online mode.
Registration Fees
- PGAT-I: Rs 1,000 for Unreserved, EWS, and OBC candidates; Rs 500 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
- PGAT-II: Rs 1,600 for Unreserved, EWS, and OBC categories; Rs 800 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
Examination Pattern
Each PGAT examination will carry a total of 300 marks, comprising 150 multiple-choice questions. The sections include General Awareness, English, Hindi, Logical Reasoning, and Mental Ability. Prof. Kapinder emphasized that there will be no negative marking.
Additional Requirements
Applicants for MBA and MBA (RD) programs will need to appear in an additional departmental test. Prof. Kapinder also noted that minor revisions have been made to the eligibility criteria this year. Furthermore, MSc Agriculture Botany has been renamed to MSc Agricultural Microbiology.
Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals are required to apply separately through the International Students Advisor's office and will not be required to appear for the PGAT.
