Jamshedpur's Historic Library Calls for Book Donations Ahead of Grand Reopening

The East Singhbhum district administration has launched an exciting book donation scheme for the iconic Dinshaw Memorial Library. Locals fondly know this institution as the D M Library Sakchi. Established way back in 1939, this library holds a special place in the city's cultural heart.

A Fresh Look After Major Renovation

Jamshedpur's urban development department gave the library a complete makeover. They spent a substantial twelve crore rupees on this renovation project. The result is a state-of-the-art learning center ready to welcome the public again. Officials expect the doors to open by February twenty-fifth.

District Commissioner Karn Satyarthi shared his vision for the library on Sunday. He emphasized that books form the very foundation of society's intellectual growth. "Books are not just sources of knowledge," Satyarthi stated. "They are essential for our collective development. We need people's support to turn D M Library into a true knowledge hub."

How You Can Contribute to the Collection

The administration wants to significantly expand the library's holdings. They are reaching out to book lovers across the community. Students, social organizations, and educational institutions can all participate. The library welcomes books that interest students, competitive exam aspirants, and general readers.

Donors will receive proper recognition for their generosity. The library plans to inscribe contributors' names on a special plaque. Select rooms and cupboards will carry the names of notable donors. This honor celebrates their valuable contribution to the community's educational resources.

Attractive Benefits for Generous Donors

The administration has designed several incentives to encourage donations:

  • Donors contributing ten or more books will receive free library membership for one full year.
  • Those donating one hundred or more books will gain free life membership.
  • Voluntary donors will receive invitations to future library discussions and meetings.
  • They will also become eligible for active participation in upcoming literary festivals.

District Commissioner Satyarthi and JNAC Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar have already set an example. They jointly donated twenty-five books to kickstart the collection.

Ensuring a Smooth Opening for Visitors

Commissioner Satyarthi personally inspected the library on January sixteenth. He reviewed the ongoing renovation work thoroughly. During this visit, he gave clear instructions to JNAC officials. He stressed the importance of having all essential facilities ready before the opening.

"We must ensure visitors face no difficulties," Satyarthi directed. He highlighted several critical requirements for the library. Proper lighting arrangements throughout the building are essential. The library needs adequate books, desks, and reading materials. Clean and functional toilets must be available for all visitors.

The commissioner insisted that officials complete these arrangements within the stipulated time frame. The community eagerly awaits the return of this beloved institution. With public support through book donations, D M Library Sakchi promises to become a vibrant center of learning and culture once again.
