Madurai Schools Receive Major Infrastructure Boost
Madurai witnessed a significant development in its educational infrastructure on Monday. Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Palanivel Thiagarajan, inaugurated additional classroom and toilet buildings at four primary schools across the city.
Funding and Construction Details
The new buildings were constructed using the School Improvement Grant Infrastructure fund. This initiative aims to enhance the learning environment for students.
At Velliveethiyar Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School, the construction cost amounted to Rs 27 lakh. SS Colony Corporation Primary School saw new buildings erected at a cost of Rs 17 lakh.
Primary and middle schools at Melavasal and Aathimoolam Corporation Primary School each received infrastructure valued at Rs 33 lakh. These investments reflect a strong commitment to improving educational facilities.
Minister Highlights Development Projects
During the inauguration ceremony, Minister Thiagarajan outlined various development projects undertaken by the Madurai Corporation. He emphasized the impact of these initiatives on the community.
Under the Namakku Naame Thittam, several projects have been successfully implemented. These include school improvements, park set-ups, and the establishment of public health centres.
Recreational and sports facilities have also been enhanced. Additionally, tree planting drives have been carried out to promote environmental sustainability.
Official Presence
Corporation Commissioner Chitra Vijayan attended the event. Her presence underscored the collaborative effort between government departments to drive urban development.
