The textbook highlights that the severe floods resulted from heavy monsoon rainfall and the swelling of the Satluj, Beas, and Ravi rivers. The disaster caused extensive damage across Punjab, affecting numerous villages, agricultural lands, residential areas, and critical infrastructure. Thousands of residents were forced to evacuate their homes and seek shelter in relief camps. Vast stretches of farmland were submerged, severely impacting crops, particularly paddy.
