This vision was articulated by Transport and Electricity Minister S S Sivasankar during the inauguration of the 3rd International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University on Wednesday.

Minister Sivasankar emphasized the transformative potential of the field, describing it as a genuine revolution. He stated that nanotechnology provides the unique capability to engineer advanced materials specifically designed to tackle some of the planet's most pressing issues. Highlighting the scale and importance of the event, VIT Chancellor G Viswanathan revealed that the conference attracted a diverse assembly of 300 participants from 20 different countries. Adding immense prestige to the proceedings, Nobel laureate Moungi Bawendi addressed the core mission of such scientific endeavors. He pointed out that the primary aim is to uncover new scientific properties and pioneer novel materials with a wide spectrum of applications. Bawendi also highlighted a crucial responsibility for educational institutions, stating that directing students' intellectual growth towards science and technology is vital.
