CBSE Delays Class 12 Exams in Middle East Nations

CBSE Postpones Class 12 Board Examinations in Multiple Middle East Nations

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the postponement of Class 12 board examinations originally scheduled to take place between March 9 and March 11, 2026. This significant decision impacts CBSE-affiliated schools located across several countries in the Middle East region, specifically Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Decision Follows Comprehensive Regional Situation Assessment

In a formal notice distributed to all affected educational institutions, the board clarified that this postponement results from a thorough review of the current circumstances within the Middle East. The examinations planned for these three specific dates will not proceed as initially outlined in the academic calendar. Fresh dates for the impacted examination papers will be communicated at a later stage, once the board finalizes the revised schedule.

This announcement represents a continuation of earlier circulars issued by CBSE on March 1, March 3, and March 5, 2026, concerning the administration of board examinations at international centers. The board conducts its prestigious board exams not only throughout India but also at numerous overseas schools affiliated with the educational body. Thousands of Indian students enrolled in these international schools participate in the identical board examinations administered within India.

Clarification on Scope and Ongoing Preparations

The board has explicitly stated that this postponement currently applies exclusively to the specified Middle Eastern countries. Examinations in India and other international centers will continue according to the existing timetable unless a separate official announcement is issued. Students preparing for the affected subjects have been instructed to maintain their study routines and remain in close contact with their respective school authorities for timely updates.

Revised Examination Dates and Official Communication Channels

CBSE has assured that new dates for the postponed examinations will be formally notified in due course. Schools will receive direct communication once the board confirms the revised examination schedule. Students are strongly advised to disregard unofficial information circulating on social media platforms and instead rely solely on official announcements from the board and guidance provided by their schools.

Future Review Scheduled for March 10, 2026

The board has scheduled another comprehensive review of the regional situation for March 10, 2026. Based on the findings of this assessment, CBSE will determine whether examinations scheduled from March 12 onwards can proceed as originally planned within the affected countries. Schools have been directed to keep students and parents fully informed and to promptly disseminate any updates received from the board.

Students and parents are encouraged to regularly monitor official notices issued by CBSE for further developments. This proactive measure aims to ensure academic continuity and student safety amidst evolving regional dynamics.
