CBSE Announces Live Webcast to Detail 2026 Board Examination Reforms
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to organize a comprehensive live webcast this Friday, aimed at elucidating the modalities for the conduct of the 2026 board examinations. This session will place a special emphasis on the rollout of on-screen marking for Class 12, a significant technological advancement in the evaluation process.
Key Initiatives for 2026 Board Exams
CBSE has introduced several pivotal initiatives for the 2026 academic year, which will be thoroughly explained during the webcast. These include the introduction of a second board examination for Class 10, the implementation of on-screen marking for Class 12, and the division of question papers in Science and Social Studies for Class 10. The board has mandated that all affiliated schools ensure the participation of principals, teachers, and examination staff to facilitate a smooth transition to these new measures.
Understanding On-Screen Marking (OSM)
Under the on-screen marking system, evaluated answer sheets will be digitized, and marks will be entered digitally before being transmitted to the main server. This process is designed to enhance accuracy, ensure uniformity in marking across different centers, and strengthen the monitoring of evaluation procedures. The webcast will provide detailed guidelines on the steps to be followed at evaluation centers and outline the specific responsibilities of exam functionaries involved in this innovative system.
Webcast Logistics and Participation Requirements
The session is scheduled to commence at 11 am and will be streamed live on CBSE's official YouTube channel. Schools have been directed to arrange necessary facilities, including a screen, sound system, and reliable internet connectivity, to enable seamless viewing. Attendance is compulsory for teachers of Classes 9 to 12, as well as staff engaged in examinations and evaluation activities.
Furthermore, CBSE has instructed each school to upload a geotagged photograph capturing the participants and the total number of attendees on the ASAR app following the webcast. Queries related to the session can be submitted in advance or during the live broadcast to the designated email IDs specified in the official notice.

The webcast will open with a keynote address by CBSE Chairperson Rahul Singh (IAS), highlighting the board's commitment to educational excellence. Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj, who signed the communication, emphasized that this session is crucial for helping schools prepare effectively for the smooth and efficient conduct of the 2026 board examinations, ensuring all stakeholders are well-informed and aligned with the new protocols.
