Bihar has unveiled a modern, fully-equipped examination complex designed to host large-scale competitive tests with top-tier security and candidate amenities. The Bapu Pariksha Bhawan, operating under the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), now stands as a pivotal centre for numerous national and state-level examinations.
Hybrid Examination Hub with Massive Capacity
The facility is designed to function in a hybrid mode, seamlessly conducting tests both offline and online. The complex is divided into three blocks: A and B are dedicated to offline and hybrid exams, while Block C has been operating as an online examination centre since September 24, 2025.
Following a recent expansion, the Bhawan's capacity has been significantly increased. It can now accommodate approximately 11,000 candidates simultaneously for online tests. Currently, Block C handles around 3,000 examinees at one time. In addition to the main Patna complex, online model centres have been established in nine divisional districts across Bihar, where nearly 24 lakh (2.4 million) candidates have already taken computer-based tests.
Uncompromising Security and Surveillance
Security is a cornerstone of the Bhawan's operations. The entire premises are under constant watch through a network of 944 CCTV cameras, all linked to a central Integrated Command and Control Centre. To prevent cheating, signal jammers have been installed throughout the facility.
All entrants, including staff and candidates, undergo thorough frisking. The security protocol employs:
- Hand-held metal detectors
- Door-frame metal detectors
- Baggage scanners
Separate and discreet arrangements are in place for women candidates to ensure their comfort and privacy during the security check.
Accessibility and Essential Amenities for All
The complex has been thoughtfully designed to be inclusive and accessible for persons with disabilities (Divyang). Key features include:
Wheelchair availability for those who need them, nine large lifts servicing all three blocks, and specially constructed separate washrooms for Divyang persons on every floor. To aid movement, a total of 24 escalators have been installed across Blocks A, B, and C.
Candidate welfare is prioritized with basic amenities. Every floor is equipped with RO systems and water coolers providing clean drinking water, supported by an in-house water treatment plant. To guarantee uninterrupted power, the complex has its own electric sub-station and is backed by two large diesel generator sets.
A Trusted Venue for Major Examining Bodies
The Bapu Pariksha Bhawan has already earned the trust of several prominent national and state agencies. It has hosted examinations conducted by:
- The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)
- The National Testing Agency (NTA)
- Bihar Staff Selection Commission
- Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board
- Bihar Police
- Aryabhatta Knowledge University
- The Postal Department
- The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) itself
BSEB Chairman Anand Kishore emphasized the facility's flexible, hybrid model, allowing it to adapt to the specific requirements of different examining bodies. The development of the Bapu Pariksha Bhawan marks a significant upgrade in Bihar's educational infrastructure, aiming to provide a fair, secure, and comfortable environment for millions of aspirants taking crucial career-defining tests.
