Jharkhand Board Examinations 2026 Commence with Remarkable Smoothness and High Participation

The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) successfully launched its secondary and intermediate examinations for the academic year 2026 on Tuesday, with the process unfolding seamlessly across the entire state. According to official council sources, the inaugural day witnessed an impressive turnout, with over 99% of eligible students appearing for their scheduled tests. This high level of participation underscores the preparedness and commitment of both students and educational authorities in Jharkhand.

Exceptional Attendance Figures Mark Day One of Examinations

On the first day of testing, examinations were conducted for introductory information technology (IIT) and various vocational subjects at the secondary level, while intermediate students tackled vocational courses. JAC data reveals that for the secondary examinations, a total of 60,355 students had registered for IIT and other vocational subjects. Out of these, 59,888 candidates appeared, resulting in an attendance percentage comfortably exceeding 99%. It is important to note that these papers are optional, chosen by students from a designated group of subjects.

Similarly, the intermediate examinations saw 52,293 registered students, with 51,820 of them taking their exams. This translated to an attendance rate of over 99%, mirroring the strong participation observed at the secondary level. The vocational courses, which form a crucial part of the curriculum, attracted significant numbers, indicating student interest in skill-based education.

Administrative Vigilance Ensures Incident-Free Conduct

JAC Secretary Jayant Mishra emphasized that the state administration was on high alert throughout the examination period. A multi-tiered monitoring system was implemented, involving deputy commissioners, sub-divisional officers, and district education officers in every district. Additionally, a dedicated control room operated at the JAC headquarters to oversee the entire exercise. No incidents of unfair practices or expulsions were reported on the first day, highlighting the effectiveness of these measures.

In Ranchi specifically, the attendance metrics were particularly noteworthy. District Education Officer Vinay Kumar provided detailed breakdowns: for secondary exams, attendance stood at 99.36% in IIT and 99% in other vocational courses. For intermediate vocational exams, the rates were 99.50% for Course I, 99.60% for Course II, and 99.53% for Course III.

Comprehensive Security and Logistical Arrangements in Place

The examinations were conducted across a well-organized network of centers. In Ranchi district alone, there were 52 centers for intermediate and 87 for secondary examinations, with 30 centers being common for both levels. Authorities reported that the process unfolded smoothly at all locations.

To maintain order and prevent disruptions, the Ranchi sub-divisional officer imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNS within a 200-meter radius of all examination centers. These orders specifically prohibited:

  • Gatherings of five or more persons
  • Use of loudspeakers
  • Carrying of arms, ammunition, or traditional weapons
  • Holding of public meetings

This proactive measure aimed to prevent congregations of students and guardians that could potentially lead to law and order issues. The administration bolstered security by deploying magistrates and police personnel at every examination center, ensuring a controlled and secure environment.

Feedback from examination centers was positive. Ashish Kumar, from the Marwari School examination center, noted, "All students arrived at the centre on time and took the examination without facing any problems." This sentiment reflects the overall smooth conduct of the exams, attributed to meticulous planning and strict adherence to protocols by the Jharkhand Academic Council and local authorities.
