Historic Milestone for Kolkata's Julien Day School
Julien Day School in Ganganagar, Kolkata, celebrated a momentous occasion on February 7th with the inauguration and blessing of its new school building. This event marked the commencement of the school's Golden Jubilee celebrations, commemorating an impressive 50-year journey from its founding in 1976 through to 2026.
Ceremonial Proceedings and Religious Blessings
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome and formal call to order by Terence John, the Director of Education and Development for Julien Day Schools. This was followed by a special inaugural service dedicated to launching the school's Golden Jubilee festivities.
The spiritual dimension of the event was highlighted when Reverend Paritosh Canning, Moderator of the Church of North India and Bishop of Calcutta, delivered the recessional hymn and benediction. Reverend Canning performed the significant act of unveiling the Golden Jubilee plaque, symbolizing the school's enduring legacy.
The blessing of the new Golden Jubilee Building was conducted collectively by Reverend Canning alongside several distinguished clergy members. These included Father Moloy D'Costa, Vicar General; Father Dominic Gomes, Chancellor and Public Relations Officer; and Reverend Asa Kiran Parichha, Associate Presbyter of St. Paul's Cathedral.
Honoring Dignitaries and Celebratory Performances
A formal felicitation ceremony honored the attending clergy, led by key school trustees and administrators. SE Broughton, Managing Trustee; JG Broughton, School Chairman; Joshua Broughton, Vice-Chairman; and Jessica Broughton, Head of Digital Marketing, presented their respects to the religious leaders.

Commemorative Releases and Special Recognition
Following the ceremonial activities, the school released its official Golden Jubilee Brochure, documenting its five-decade history and achievements. A particularly unique highlight was the display of a special commemorative cover envelope, meticulously curated and presented by the Kolkata General Post Office (GPO). This philatelic tribute added a distinctive touch to the historic celebration.
The inauguration of the new building not only provides enhanced facilities for students but also stands as a physical testament to Julien Day School's enduring commitment to educational excellence in Kolkata. As the institution embarks on its next chapter, this Golden Jubilee milestone reinforces its foundational values and vision for future generations.
