The Maharashtra state government has decided to provide land free of cost for setting up Kendriya Vidyalayas across the state. The land will be assigned under the occupancy class 2 category. The state cabinet gave an in-principle approval to this proposal on Wednesday.
Key Decisions
The cabinet also sanctioned five acres of land for a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Ratnagiri district. State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule stated that this decision will expedite the process of allocating land in districts where proposals for establishing such schools have already been approved.
Impact on Education
This move is expected to boost educational infrastructure in the state, making central government-run schools more accessible to students. The free land provision removes a major hurdle in the establishment of Kendriya Vidyalayas, which are known for providing quality education at affordable costs.
Officials said that the decision will streamline the process and help in the rapid expansion of these schools in Maharashtra. The government aims to ensure that every district has at least one Kendriya Vidyalaya to cater to the educational needs of children, especially those from economically weaker sections.
