Patna Hosts NIPUN TLM Mela 3.0 to Boost Foundational Learning
A two-day state-level NIPUN Teaching Learning Material (TLM) Mela 3.0, organized by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), commenced on Tuesday in Patna. The event features 282 selected teachers from all 38 districts of the state, serving as a dynamic platform for educators to demonstrate experimental teaching aids across various subjects, including language, mathematics, science, and environmental studies. The primary goal is to improve foundational literacy and numeracy among students through innovative and engaging methods.
Inauguration and Emphasis on Innovative Teaching
Director of primary education Vikram Virkar inaugurated the fair, highlighting the critical need for teachers to implement illustrated and innovative teaching methods in classrooms. He emphasized that the exhibition aims to ensure clarity and objectivity in children's education, underscoring the responsibility teachers hold in shaping the future of students. Virkar stated that such initiatives are vital for fostering a more effective and interactive learning environment.
Participation and Display of Teaching Materials
The participant group includes 64 environmental science teachers, followed by Hindi (56), English (51), Urdu (43), and mathematics (43) educators. These teachers are presenting a wide array of materials designed to introduce concepts through play-based learning. Examples include alphabets, numbers, geometric shapes, and children's literature, all crafted to make learning more accessible and enjoyable for young minds.
Evaluation and Recognition of Effective Materials
A judging panel is currently evaluating the displays to select and reward the most effective teaching materials. This process aims to identify and promote best practices that can be replicated across schools to enhance educational outcomes. The inauguration was attended by key officials, including SCERT joint director Sushma Kumari, nodal officer Vibha Rani, and other department representatives, who expressed support for the initiative.
Broader Impact and Future Prospects
The NIPUN TLM Mela 3.0 not only showcases creativity in teaching but also encourages collaboration among educators to share ideas and techniques. By focusing on foundational skills, the event aligns with national educational goals to improve learning outcomes at the primary level. Officials hope that the materials and methods presented will be widely adopted, leading to a more robust and engaging educational framework across the state.
