Teachers Honor Promise by Flying Top-Performing Students to Bengaluru

In a heartwarming gesture, two dedicated teachers from Belagali Vidyavardhaka Sangha's High School in Belagali village, Bagalkot district, fulfilled a unique promise by taking five students on a flight to Bengaluru. The teachers had pledged to sponsor air travel for any student who secured 100% marks in their subjects during last year's SSLC examination.

Inspiring Achievement Leads to Unforgettable Journey

Motivated by this assurance, five students rose to the challenge and achieved perfect scores. English teacher KA Dhaduti and mathematics teacher MD Nevanakki personally funded the entire trip, spending approximately Rs 56,000 from their own pockets. The students included Sujata Yadahalli, Pallavi Bhadrashetti, Roopa Hallur, and Padma Sanahatti, who all scored 100% in Mathematics, along with Mahalingappa Badiger, who excelled with 100% in both English and Mathematics.

The group embarked on their journey from Belagavi Airport on Saturday morning, marking a first-time flying experience for many, including teacher Dhaduti. "It was my debut air travel too, and it happened because of our students," he shared with pride.

Educational Tour and Personal Sacrifices

During their visit to Bengaluru, the students explored key landmarks such as Vidhana Soudha, the high court, the Visvesvaraya Museum, and Iskcon. The trip expenses totaled Rs 41,000 for flights and an additional Rs 15,000 for return bus travel, local transportation, food, and museum tickets. Due to health issues, teacher Nevanakki could not join, but Hindi teacher SV Radderahatti stepped in to accompany the group.

One of the students, Mahalingappa Badiger, who scored 612 out of 625 in SSLC and is now pursuing PU Science, highlighted the personal significance of this experience. "My father was a tailor, and we lost him two months ago. With almost no land left after division among his brothers, I never dreamt of such an opportunity. Our teachers' initiative has deeply motivated me to strive for success in life," he expressed emotionally.

Memorable Moments and Future Promises

The other students described the journey as a memorable milestone, as it was their first time seeing a flight up close or traveling by air. They also appreciated the thoughtful gesture of their teachers gifting 250 grams of sweets to offer to their parents upon return.

On Saturday, the teachers received heartfelt congratulations from the parents' community at the school. In a further commitment to encouraging academic excellence, Dhaduti and Nevanakki announced they would sponsor air travel for any student who achieves a perfect score of 625 out of 625 in this year's SSLC exams.

This inspiring story underscores the profound impact teachers can have on students' lives, turning academic achievements into lifelong memories and fostering a culture of motivation and support in education.
