Hyderabad: Classes for the new academic year in Intermediate colleges across Telangana will commence from June 1, with the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) directing government and private institutions to ensure readiness for the reopening.
Admissions Process Underway
The first phase of admissions concluded on May 30, with the last date for receipt of applications to colleges being May 31. Admissions to first-year Intermediate courses are currently ongoing and will continue through June. Officials aim to complete the process at the earliest to avoid disruption to academic schedules.
Academic Calendar Highlights
In its academic calendar, the TGBIE revealed that the academic year would consist of 227 days, with half-yearly exams scheduled for October.
Review Meeting Directives
At a review meeting held on Saturday, TGBIE director and secretary Abhilasha Abhinav instructed district education officials and principals to complete admission-related preparations. They were also directed to launch awareness and counselling drives to boost enrolment during the ongoing admission season.
Officials noted that while awareness efforts continue in rural parts of the state, special outreach programmes are being conducted across districts. These programmes aim to inform students and parents about academic facilities, welfare schemes, and career opportunities available in junior colleges.
Coordination for Smooth Start
The board has also instructed institutions to ensure timely distribution of textbooks and smooth coordination between district officials and college principals for a seamless start to classes.
