UP Board 2026 Examinations: Heightened Security Measures in Sensitive Districts

The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board, commonly known as the UP Board, has officially announced the schedule for the 2026 High School and Intermediate examinations. These crucial academic assessments are slated to take place from February 18 to March 12, 2026. In preparation for this significant event, Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh has issued a comprehensive directive to administrative and educational authorities across the state.

Targeted Vigilance in Identified Sensitive Districts

In a formal communication, Singh referenced specific instructions from UP Chief Secretary Shashi Prakash Goyal, emphasizing the critical need for enhanced vigilance and coordinated efforts. The board secretary explicitly highlighted that special monitoring and security protocols are imperative for districts that have experienced incidents of mass copying, attempted paper leaks, or law-and-order disruptions during previous examination cycles.

A total of 18 districts have been classified as sensitive and will be under intensified security oversight throughout the examination period. The identified districts include:

  • Prayagraj
  • Agra
  • Mathura
  • Aligarh
  • Hathras
  • Etah
  • Kasganj
  • Kaushambi
  • Pratapgarh
  • Hardoi
  • Kannauj
  • Azamgarh
  • Ballia
  • Mau
  • Jaunpur
  • Ghazipur
  • Deoria
  • Gonda

Subject-Wise Alert Levels and Security Protocols

The board has also implemented a tiered alert system for various subjects based on historical risk factors. Subjects such as Hindi, General Hindi, Civics, Social Science, History, Geography, Home Science, Economics, and English have been placed under high to very high alert status. Meanwhile, core science and mathematics subjects, including Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, have been marked for the highest level of scrutiny due to their critical importance and past vulnerabilities.

Comprehensive Administrative Directives

Secretary Singh has mandated divisional commissioners, district magistrates, and district inspectors of schools in these sensitive regions to take immediate and coordinated action. Key directives include:

  1. Conducting high-level review meetings to assess and finalize all examination arrangements.
  2. Ensuring robust security measures at all examination centers.
  3. Strategic deployment of police personnel and flying squads for on-ground monitoring.
  4. Implementation of comprehensive CCTV surveillance systems.
  5. Establishment of real-time monitoring mechanisms to track examination proceedings.

Furthermore, officials have been instructed to take proactive and stringent measures against organized cheating networks and anti-social elements that might attempt to disrupt the examination process. Any breach of confidentiality or effort to compromise the integrity of the exams will be dealt with severely under the provisions of the UP Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.

This multi-layered approach aims to uphold the sanctity and fairness of the UP Board examinations, ensuring that millions of students across Uttar Pradesh can participate in a transparent and equitable assessment environment.
