Veteran actor Edie Falco has opened up about her immersive experience working on the highly anticipated film 'Avatar: Fire and Ash', describing it as entering a completely different universe. In an exclusive interview with People magazine, the 62-year-old star expressed her deep honour at being part of director James Cameron's expansive cinematic vision.
A World of Its Own: Falco's Immersive Experience
Falco, who portrays the antagonist General Ardmore in the Avatar franchise, shared her thoughts during the Mayor of Kingstown season four screening in New York. She revealed that working on the project felt like stepping into 'another whole world'. The actor went on to state that it was a great honour to participate in the kind of imaginative and technically ambitious projects that Cameron brings to life, calling the director 'quite astonishing in that regard'.
Praising Cameron's Childlike Innovation
Falco was particularly effusive in her praise for Cameron's relentless innovation and unique directorial style. She highlighted how the filmmaker constantly pushes the boundaries of the medium. 'He's invented machines and new ways of shooting, and to be invited to be a part of that, I'm very lucky,' she added. Reflecting on her collaboration, Falco found his approach refreshingly different, comparing his enthusiasm to that of a child.
'He's like a little kid. He's got all kinds of ideas and curiosity, and he has the excitement about storytelling that you have when you first start out,' Falco told People. This boundless energy, she implied, is a key driver behind the groundbreaking nature of the Avatar films.
What to Expect from 'Fire and Ash'
While specific plot details for Avatar: Fire and Ash remain closely guarded, James Cameron has previously hinted that the film will introduce audiences to new cultures on the moon Pandora. Central to the story will be the Ash People, a Na'vi clan associated with the element of fire. The film features returning stars including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang.
Newcomer Oona Chaplin joins the cast as Varang, the leader of the Ash People, marking a significant expansion of the Avatar universe's lore. The film is currently running in theatres worldwide, inviting audiences back to the visually stunning and narratively rich world of Pandora.
