Sonu Nigam Recalls Border's Impact at Ghar Kab Aaoge Launch on India-Pakistan Border
Sonu Nigam's Emotional Tribute to Soldiers at Border 2 Song Launch

Veteran playback singer Sonu Nigam turned nostalgic and reflective during a powerful event held at the India-Pakistan border in Jaisalmer on Friday. The occasion was the launch of the key track 'Ghar Kab Aaoge' from the much-anticipated film 'Border 2', starring Sunny Deol.

A Nostalgic Journey Back to 'Sandese Aate Hai'

Addressing a gathering of Border Security Force (BSF) jawans at the frontier in the Tanot area, Sonu Nigam opened up about the lasting legacy of 'Sandese Aate Hai' from the 1997 war classic 'Border'. He revealed how that song became a defining milestone in his professional life. The singer recorded 'Sandese Aate Hai' back in 1995, though the film released two years later in 1997.

"This song, this film, this team has been a very auspicious team for me. I still haven't forgotten," Sonu shared with the soldiers. He admitted that while he was getting songs before 'Border', they were not of such monumental importance. The emotional depth of 'Sandese Aate Hai' earned him a new identity, transforming him into a 'serious singer' in the eyes of the industry and the public for the first time. "People believed in me because of this song," he stated emotionally.

Patriotic Launch at the Frontier

The launch event for 'Ghar Kab Aaoge' was staged with great solemnity and pride at the border itself, near the revered Tanot Mata Temple in Jaisalmer. The auditorium was lit up with fireworks, creating a dazzling backdrop for the patriotic evening attended primarily by BSF personnel.

The program commenced with a soulful performance of the iconic Rajasthani folk song 'Kesariya Balam Aao Ni Padharo Mhare Desh', which received thunderous applause from the audience. Following this, the reimagined version of 'Ghar Kab Aaoge' was unveiled, instantly striking a deep emotional chord with everyone present.

Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and other cast members of 'Border 2' were present in Jaisalmer to witness the launch and the heartfelt response from the jawans. The new version of the song has been recreated by composer Mithoon, while the original was composed by Anu Malik. Fresh lyrics have been penned by Manoj Muntashir Shukla, with the original words written by the legendary Javed Akhtar.

A Tribute to the Nation's Protectors

Sonu Nigam also took to Instagram to share the song and pen a heartfelt note dedicated to the armed forces. "Some songs aren't just melodies; they are emotions that belong to the soul of our nation," he wrote. He described being part of this song for 'Border 2' as a "beautiful homecoming" and expressed feeling blessed to relive such magic. He dedicated the track to the brave soldiers and their waiting families.

The song features vocals by a stellar lineup of singers including Roopkumar Rathod, Sonu Nigam himself, Arijit Singh, Vishal Mishra, and Diljit Dosanjh.

Directed by Anurag Singh, 'Border 2' boasts a powerful ensemble cast led by Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The film also stars Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa, and Anya Singh. Presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta's J.P. Films, it is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. The film is slated for a grand theatrical release on January 23.
