With an upcoming performance as a police officer in a gripping crime thriller, she is currently navigating a professional phase where artistic range, rather than comfort, is the primary driver of her choices.

"I want to prove I can take on versatile roles. But, you need to be at the right place at the right time," Sharma explains, highlighting how industry perceptions often restrict access to diverse parts. She further states, "No one is at home watching what I can do. I need opportunities to show it." Addressing a common misconception, she adds, "People assume I don’t know Kannada. But I’m from Mysuru and my performance has the power to change that narrative."
Drawing Inspiration from Bollywood Icons
Referencing acclaimed actress Rani Mukerji, Sharma emphasizes that versatility is crucial for a lasting career. "Her roles in Mardaani and Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway are completely different. That’s what an artiste is — malleable," she notes. Sharma expresses her desire to undertake strong, multifaceted roles without self-imposed limitations. "I don’t want to set boundaries. For me, it’s about the team that I’m going to work with. If I can visualise the story while listening to it, that’s my sign," she reveals.
Embracing a Layered Police Character
Discussing her forthcoming role, Sharma shares her long-held aspiration. "I’ve always wanted to play a cop. In this film, my role is not just about solving a case—the character has layers," she says. For preparation, she studied the demeanor of police officers, stating, "There’s a certain way an officer carries themselves. So I watched a few films of Malashree ma’am to understand her mannerisms."
