In a heartfelt tribute to the nation's defenders, actor Varun Dhawan recently opened up about the deep emotional resonance of the song 'Ghar Kab Aaoge' from the highly anticipated film 'Border 2'. Speaking at the song's launch in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, Dhawan emphasized that the track carries a powerful message for the youth about the courage and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces.
An Emotional Launch at Historic Longewala
The launch event, held at the historic Longewala post in Jaisalmer on January 2, was attended by Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers, adding a layer of profound authenticity to the occasion. Dhawan expressed that releasing the song at the very location where the original 1997 war epic 'Border' was filmed made the moment exceptionally special.
"It is a very emotional song for us, for the whole country. So it felt very good to launch it here in Jaisalmer and in Longewala, where Border was shot," Dhawan told ANI. He urged audiences to watch the film when it hits theatres nationwide on January 23.
Fulfilling a Childhood Dream Inspired by Sunny Deol
Reflecting on his journey, Dhawan credited veteran actor Sunny Deol's iconic performance in 'Border' for planting the seed of admiration for the armed forces in his heart. He drew a parallel between Deol's inspiration from the film 'Haqeeqat' and his own from 'Border'.
"As a child, I watched Border and had the wish in my heart to play a man in uniform - someone from the armed forces. It's all because of Sunny, sir," Dhawan confessed. He stated that films like 'Border' were instrumental in shaping the patriotic spirit of his entire generation and instilling pride in the country's military strength.
The actor admitted he never imagined he would one day headline a sequel to the iconic film. "I had never, even in my wildest dreams, imagined that I would be a part of this song, Ghar Kab Aaoge or that I would be a part of Border 2 as a leading man," he shared.
A Timeless Message for a New Generation
Dhawan stressed the continued relevance of films like 'Border 2' in today's climate. He believes they play a crucial role in helping young people comprehend the bravery and immense sacrifices made by soldiers on the borders.
"Today, when I see posters of Operation Sindoor everywhere, I believe in my country. India is a country that believes in love, peace, and brotherhood, but sometimes films like Border are important for young people to understand how valiant our country truly is," he remarked. He concluded by sharing a stirring dialogue from the film that encapsulates its defiant spirit: "Iss baar hum border mein ghusenge nahin, hum border hi badal denge."
Renowned playback singer Sonu Nigam, who has lent his voice to 'Ghar Kab Aaoge', also expressed his joy at the song's renewed life. "I am very happy. A song that was released so long ago is getting lit up again. And on the land of Rajasthan, our brave soldiers are living here," Nigam said. He recalled that singing 'Sandese Aate Hai' 30 years ago for the original 'Border' first earned him the title of a "serious" singer.
Directed by Anurag Singh, 'Border 2' features a stellar ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa, and Anya Singh alongside Varun Dhawan. The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with JP Dutta's JP Films, and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta.
