Varun Dhawan Talks 'Border 2' & Salutes Indian Forces

Bollywood star Varun Dhawan is gearing up for the highly anticipated release of his upcoming war drama, 'Border 2', and recently opened up about his long-standing desire to play a soldier and the film's powerful message. The actor shared these sentiments at a grand song launch event held in Jaisalmer for the track 'Ghar Kab Aaoge'.

Fulfilling a Childhood Dream Through 'Border 2'

Speaking at the event, Varun Dhawan reflected on the immense impact the 1997 classic 'Border' had on him and the nation. He revealed that watching the original film, starring Sunny Deol, shaped his and the public's perspective towards the armed forces. The actor confessed he always harbored a wish to portray a character connected to the military on screen, inspired by the courage and emotional strength depicted in 'Border'. He credited Sunny Deol and the film's narrative for embedding these values in the hearts of Indians. Dhawan expressed his astonishment and honor at now being part of the sequel to that very iconic war drama.

Varun Dhawan's Take on National Security and Cinema's Role

At the launch, the actor also noticed posters referencing India's Operation Sindoor. Addressing the topic, Dhawan emphasized that while India is a nation that cherishes peace, it is crucial to produce films like 'Border' that demonstrate the country's capability to defend itself. He stated that such movies show the youth that India possesses the power to retaliate against any threat to its sovereignty.

The 'Bhediya' actor elaborated that when any entity dares to cast a malicious eye on the nation's territory, a formidable response is not just an option but a necessity. He believes it is vital for the younger generation to understand this reality, which is why films centered on military valor and patriotism remain perpetually relevant.

A Tribute to the Fallen Heroes

This isn't the first time Varun Dhawan has publicly honored the nation's defenders. Last year, he paid a heartfelt tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during a military operation. On Instagram, he shared a Story post with images of the fallen personnel, writing, "We are here only because of u." The post honored Jawans Murali Naik, Sachin Yadav, Amit Chaudhary, and Suraj Yadav, BSF SI Md Imteyaz, Gunner Dinesh Sharma, Airman Kamal Kamboj, and IAF Sergeant Surendra Mogra.

Directed by Anurag Singh, 'Border 2' is scheduled to hit theaters on January 23, 2026. The film boasts an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana alongside Varun Dhawan.
