Madhoo reveals Karisma Kapoor rejected 'Pehchaan' role

Veteran actress Madhoo has disclosed that her role in the 1993 action drama 'Pehchaan' was initially turned down by Karisma Kapoor and several other leading actresses of the era. Speaking to IANS, Madhoo explained how the part eventually came to her and why she decided to accept it.

Madhoo's determination to take the role

Madhoo revealed that upon learning many prominent actresses had rejected the character of Tina Verma, she became resolute in her decision to take it on. She told IANS, "The more people told me that the main actors have rejected it, main heroines have rejected it. I was obviously not the first choice, I believe; they went to many people at that time. They all said no, and then it came to me. The more I learned that various actors have rejected the role, the more I was sure that I wanted to do it, so I was proud of that film."

Karisma Kapoor among those who declined

When asked specifically who had passed on the role, the 'Roja' actor said, "One of the names that I came to know about was Karisma Kapoor and don't know who else. But I was told that 2-3 of them have rejected it." This revelation sheds light on the casting process for the film and the initial challenges faced by the makers.
