Rumer Willis Alleges Emotional Abuse by Ex in Custody Battle Over Daughter
Rumer Willis Alleges Emotional Abuse by Ex in Custody Battle

Rumer Willis has made serious allegations against her ex-partner, Derek Richard Thomas, amid their ongoing custody battle over their 3-year-old daughter, Louetta. The actress claims she was subjected to severe emotional abuse throughout their relationship.

Allegations of Emotional Abuse

According to reports, Willis filed new documents in the custody case, stating that she experienced 'severely emotionally abusive' behavior from Thomas. The custody proceedings have been ongoing since July of the previous year. Willis argues that Thomas should not be granted visitation rights due to his conduct, which she describes as consistent with 'insane emotional abuse.'

The documents detail that these incidents frequently occurred in the presence of their child and could last for over six hours at a time on a daily basis. Willis claims the abuse began before Louetta's birth but escalated after she was born.

Isolation and Control

Willis alleges that Thomas actively tried to isolate her from friends and family. In the filings, she stated, 'I was constantly trying to keep the peace and walk on eggshells. He wanted to isolate me from my friends and family. He constantly called me a liar with no reason behind it. He told me I was a bad girlfriend all the time.'

She further added that it was difficult for her to stand up to Thomas, as she tried to avoid his emotional tirades even after he moved out.

Impact on Daughter

Willis contends that Thomas's behavior has traumatized their daughter, Louetta. She opposes his request for overnight visitation, citing the negative impact on the child. She has called for a child custody evaluation under Evidence Code Section 730 before any decisions are made.

Rumer Willis, daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, was in a relationship with musician Derek Richard Thomas for several years. They welcomed Louetta in 2023 but separated a year later. The custody battle has been ongoing since last year.
