NBEMS Achieves Guinness World Record for Largest AI in Healthcare Live Stream
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially secured recognition from Guinness World Records for hosting the largest live-streamed lesson on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare on YouTube. This landmark achievement marks a significant milestone in digital medical education.
Record-Breaking Viewer Numbers
A peak of 17,999 viewers logged in simultaneously for the online session, setting a new world record in the specific category of “Most viewers of an Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare lesson live stream on YouTube.” This unprecedented turnout demonstrates the growing interest in AI applications within the medical community.
Six-Month National Training Programme
The livestream was part of a comprehensive, structured AI training programme developed exclusively for registered medical practitioners across India. The initiative was conceived under the leadership of Dr Abhijat Sheth, President of NBEMS and Chairman of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Spread across six months, the course comprises 20 modules delivered by distinguished faculty from leading institutions worldwide, including:
- Harvard University (USA)
- IIM Lucknow
- IISc Bengaluru
Notably, NBEMS has not charged any participation fee, positioning this programme as a genuine national capacity-building effort rather than a revenue-driven exercise.
Strategic Planning and Execution
The digital academic drive was meticulously planned and executed by Dr Rakesh Sharma, Governing Body Member of NBEMS, and Dr. AVS Suresh from Hyderabad, along with the dedicated NBEMS team and AI experts from both India and overseas.
Official Verification Process
The record attempt underwent formal adjudication by Swapnil Dangarikar, an appointed judge from Guinness World Records. After thorough review of technical metrics and compliance data, the adjudicating team officially confirmed the achievement. Officials described the viewer turnout as unprecedented for a specialized medical education session focused on artificial intelligence.
Visionary Leadership and Digital Integration
Dr Abhijat Sheth emphasized that this milestone reflects a broader push toward digital integration in healthcare training. “This achievement draws inspiration from the visionary leadership of Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, who has always emphasised on digital India, technological innovation, and the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence in governance and public service,” Dr Sheth stated in an official press release.
He further added, “I also express my heartfelt gratitude to the Union Health Minister Shri J P Nadda, MOHFW officers, faculty members, academic partners, and participating doctors whose collective effort made this achievement possible.”
Dr Sheth clarified that the accomplishment is “not just about numbers” but represents a transformative step in making advanced AI education accessible to medical professionals nationwide, aligning with India's digital advancement goals in healthcare.
