The Institution of Engineers (India) Prayagraj Local Centre organised a seminar on "Sustainable Water Resources" under the aegis of the Environmental Engineering Division Board on Saturday. The event aimed to address critical issues related to water conservation and sustainable management.

Chief Guest Highlights Water Conservation Urgency

Kumar Gaurav, General Manager of Jalkal Vibhag, attended as the chief guest and stressed the need for water conservation and preventing wastage of water resources. He warned that careless exploitation of water resources could create serious challenges for future generations. He emphasised the importance of public participation in implementing water conservation policies effectively.

Chairman Calls for Coordinated Efforts

Prof. Avanish Kumar Dubey, Chairman of the institution, highlighted the limited availability of accessible freshwater and cautioned against pollution and overexploitation. He called for coordinated efforts by government agencies, industries, and citizens to ensure sustainable water management. He noted that collective action is essential to preserve water resources for future generations.

Keynote Speakers on Advanced Technologies

Keynote speaker Dharmveer Yadav from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad discussed advanced technologies for sustainable water treatment. He presented innovative methods to improve water quality and efficiency in treatment processes. Vethathirri Ramanujam Srinivasan spoke on converting wastewater from food industries into fish feed through microbial bioconversion systems. This approach demonstrates how waste can be transformed into valuable resources, promoting a circular economy.

The seminar concluded with a call for increased awareness and action on water sustainability. Participants included engineers, academics, and students who engaged in discussions on best practices and future strategies. The event underscored the need for integrated approaches to water management, combining technology, policy, and community involvement.
