In a significant boost to healthcare accessibility, two state-of-the-art medical vans, valued at Rs 1.35 crore, were officially launched in the Vijayawada West constituency on Sunday. This initiative is part of the Sujana Health On Wheels programme, which operates under the inspiring slogan "Better Health, Happier Life, Higher Productivity." The Sujana Foundation spearheaded this project, making these advanced mobile healthcare units available to serve the local community.

The launch event was graced by former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, who inaugurated the medical vans in the West constituency. During his address, Naidu extended heartfelt congratulations to Sujana Chowdary for his proactive efforts in designing independent programmes, raising funds autonomously, and implementing initiatives that directly benefit the public, with a particular focus on health protection.
Naidu also highlighted the establishment of a special system known as "Sujana Mitra," which has been set up to promptly address and resolve people's issues. He expressed great satisfaction with this innovative approach, noting its potential to enhance community support and healthcare delivery.

First Medical Van
The first van is designed as a mobile clinic, featuring:
- A senior doctor's chamber for consultations
- An examination room for patient assessments
- A fully functional blood laboratory for diagnostic tests
- A pharmacy stocked with free medicines for immediate distribution
Second Medical Van
The second van serves as a diagnostic hub, equipped with advanced medical technology, including:
- X-ray machines for imaging services
- ECG equipment for heart monitoring
- 2D Echo devices for ultrasound examinations
Operational Strategy and Community Impact
These medical vans will operate by coordinating with local Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs) to conduct special medical camps. In cases where serious illnesses are detected, patients will be referred to prominent healthcare facilities for further treatment. These include the Vijayawada Government General Hospital (GGH), Mangalagiri NRI Hospital, and other private hospitals, ensuring that individuals receive the best possible care.
To streamline this referral process and provide continuous support, the MLA has appointed a dedicated "Coordinator on Duty." This coordinator will assist patients at these hospitals, helping them navigate the healthcare system and access necessary treatments efficiently.
