Addressing the students, Bajwa informed them that the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds of Coal India Limited, has launched the Pragya Scholarship Scheme. This initiative aims to provide scholarships to 1,000 needy and underprivileged girls across the country for a period of four years. The scholarship is available to eligible girl students studying in Class VIII or above.
Eligibility Criteria Explained
Bajwa elaborated on the eligibility criteria, stating that the scheme is intended for girls who meet one or more of the following conditions: parents are deceased, the family has lost its primary earning member, the applicant is physically disabled, parents are financially unable to bear educational costs, father is in jail and mother's income is insufficient, or other similar exceptional circumstances. Eligible students can avail the benefits of the scheme.
Call to Action for Students
Students were urged to inform their school authorities or contact the DLSA if they or any eligible girl student meets the prescribed criteria. The programme aimed to ensure that deserving candidates do not miss out on this opportunity due to lack of awareness.
