Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya has instructed officials to accelerate the construction of 34 Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospitals and dispensaries across the state. The directive was issued during a review meeting held at Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh, where the governor assessed the progress of these healthcare facilities.
Governor's Review Meeting
During the meeting, Governor Dattatreya emphasized the need to provide quality medical services to workers and their families covered under the ESIC scheme. He stressed that timely completion of these projects is crucial to ensure that beneficiaries receive healthcare without any delay. The governor also asked the officials to identify and resolve any bottlenecks hindering the construction work.
Current Status of Projects
Officials briefed the governor about the status of the 34 ESIC facilities, which include hospitals and dispensaries in various districts of Haryana. These projects are part of the state's efforts to expand healthcare infrastructure for the organized sector workforce. The governor expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work in some areas and called for strict monitoring to meet deadlines.
Focus on Quality and Accessibility
Governor Dattatreya highlighted that ESIC hospitals play a vital role in providing affordable and accessible healthcare to industrial workers. He urged the officials to ensure that the facilities are equipped with modern medical equipment and adequate staff. The governor also emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of hygiene and patient care in these institutions.
The ESIC scheme provides medical benefits, cash benefits during sickness, maternity, and disablement, as well as dependent benefits to insured workers. With the addition of new hospitals and dispensaries, more workers will have access to these services. The governor directed the officials to prepare a detailed timeline for the completion of each project and submit regular progress reports.
Officials from the Labour Department and the ESIC regional office attended the meeting. They assured the governor of their commitment to expedite the work and overcome any challenges. The construction of these facilities is expected to significantly improve healthcare access for thousands of workers in Haryana.
