FIR Against Doctors After Kidney Stone Surgery Death in Rae Bareli
FIR Against Doctors Over Patient Death After Surgery

Police in Uttar Pradesh have taken legal action against medical professionals following the tragic death of a young man after a surgical procedure. An FIR was registered on Saturday against two doctors and the manager of a private hospital in Rae Bareli over allegations of severe medical negligence.

Family Alleges Unauthorized Surgery and Misleading Information

The case stems from a complaint filed by Santosh Kumar Gupta at the Kotwali Nagar police station. According to the complainant, his 22-year-old son, Deepak Gupta, was suffering from kidney stones. The family was approached by hospital manager Ajay Yadav, who took the young man to the medical facility on December 14.

Santosh Gupta alleges that the doctors initially informed them that surgery was required only in one kidney. However, in a shocking turn of events during the operation conducted late at night, surgeons allegedly proceeded to operate on both kidneys without obtaining the necessary consent from the patient's family.

Rapid Deterioration and Delayed Action

The situation took a grim turn immediately after the surgery. The family states that Deepak's condition began deteriorating rapidly. Despite their repeated pleas and expressions of concern, the attending doctors continued to assure them that the patient would recover.

By December 16, Deepak's health had worsened significantly. When the distressed family insisted on shifting him to a hospital in Lucknow for better care, they faced further obstruction. Hospital staff allegedly tried to force them to take the patient to a different facility of the hospital's choice located in Mohanlalganj instead.

Final Transfer and Unresolved Cause of Death

Ultimately, the family managed to move Deepak Gupta to a private hospital in Lucknow. Tragically, doctors at this facility pronounced him dead upon arrival. To determine the exact cause of death, a post-mortem examination was conducted at King George's Medical University on December 17.

However, the autopsy report could not establish a definitive cause of death, leaving the family seeking answers and justice through the legal system. The police have now initiated an investigation based on the allegations in the FIR, which include:

  • Medical negligence leading to death
  • Performing surgery without proper consent
  • Providing misleading information about the required procedure
  • Obstructing the family's attempt to seek alternative treatment

This incident has raised serious questions about patient consent protocols and accountability in private healthcare settings. The investigation is ongoing as authorities examine the sequence of events that led to the young man's untimely death following what should have been a routine kidney stone removal operation.
