Tragic Suicides Rock Gurgaon: Student and Young Man Found Hanging
In a heartbreaking series of events, Gurgaon witnessed two separate suicide cases this week, highlighting pressing concerns over mental health and societal pressures. The incidents have left families devastated and authorities scrambling for answers.
Student's Suicide at Private School Premises
A 15-year-old student, identified as Aakash, was found hanging at a staff quarter inside a private school in the Farrukhnagar area. Aakash, a Class 10 student, was reportedly grappling with mental health issues, according to police statements. His father worked as a peon at the same school, while his mother was employed with a private company in the city. The family, originally from Chhapra district in Bihar, resided in the staff quarters on the school premises.
On Monday evening, around 6 PM, Aakash's mother returned home to discover him hanging with a dupatta tied around his neck. Police were immediately alerted, and the body was taken into custody and shifted to the mortuary for an autopsy. A senior police officer noted, "The family stated that the boy was under mental stress. The exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained." Inquest proceedings have been initiated under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
Second Suicide in Udyog Vihar Area
In a separate incident, a 26-year-old man died by suicide in the Udyog Vihar area. The victim, Satyam, was a native of Katsila village in Uttar Pradesh's Chandauli district and lived in Dundahera while working at a private company. Police reported that he hanged himself at his residence on Monday evening. A woman living in the neighbourhood noticed the incident and promptly informed the authorities.
No suicide note was recovered from the spot, and further investigation is currently underway to determine the motives behind this tragic act. This case adds to the growing list of suicide incidents in urban areas, raising alarms about mental well-being and support systems.
Broader Implications and Community Response
These incidents underscore the urgent need for enhanced mental health awareness and intervention strategies in communities. The deaths of Aakash and Satyam have sparked conversations about the pressures faced by students and young professionals in fast-paced environments like Gurgaon. Authorities are urging families and institutions to prioritize emotional support and seek help when needed.
As investigations continue, the police are working closely with mental health experts to understand the underlying factors. The community is called upon to foster a more supportive environment to prevent such tragedies in the future.
