17-Year-Old NEET Aspirant Dies by Suicide in Ahmedabad; Probe On
A 17-year-old boy, who was scheduled to appear in the NEET (UG) re-examination, allegedly died by suicide early Thursday morning in Ahmedabad. According to police, the teenager jumped from the balcony of his sixth-floor apartment in the Tragad area.
The incident occurred around 2:55 am at the Aristo Anandam flat complex, B block. The security guard noticed the boy lying in the common area and alerted residents. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival, said Sabarmati inspector Y R Vaghela. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
The deceased was a NEET aspirant and had performed well in previous exams. He was living with his mother and younger brother in Ahmedabad; his father, an advocate, resides in Surat due to separation from the mother. Family members have not indicated any mental stress, and no suicide note was found, Vaghela added. Further investigation is underway.
The NEET-UG re-examination is scheduled for June 21, after the National Testing Agency canceled the earlier exam held on May 3 due to allegations of a paper leak.
