Bengaluru: On the occasion of National Dengue Day, the Bengaluru East City Corporation organized a dengue awareness programme at the BMTC Central Workshop–02 in Dooravani Nagar. The event was conducted by the Krishnarajapura Urban Primary Health Centre and witnessed participation from over 100 workshop staff members.
Key Highlights of the Programme
Health educators delivered detailed explanations regarding dengue symptoms, treatment methods, and preventive measures. They emphasized the critical importance of avoiding water stagnation and curbing mosquito breeding to prevent the spread of the disease.
Senior Health Inspector Gururaj underscored the vital role of public cooperation in controlling dengue transmission. He urged attendees to remain vigilant and take proactive steps in their surroundings.
Live Demonstration and Larval Survey
A live larva demonstration was conducted by Senior Health Inspector Shrishaila Kannaal. This hands-on session helped staff members understand the mosquito life cycle and identify potential breeding spots effectively.
An intensive larval survey was carried out across the workshop premises. The inspection covered water storage units, discarded tyres, and waste materials where mosquitoes could breed. Larvicidal solution was sprayed in affected areas to eliminate larvae and prevent further mosquito development.
The programme concluded with a call for sustained community efforts to keep the environment clean and free from mosquito breeding sites. Such initiatives are crucial in the fight against dengue, especially during the monsoon season.
