Medical exams for 680 Odisha teachers on terminal illness grounds

The Odisha State Standing Medical Board in Koraput has scheduled medical examinations for 680 teachers from Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri districts who have applied for transfers under the terminal illness category. The examinations will be conducted over five days starting from July 2.

Verification of Medical Claims

Officials stated that the verification exercise aims to ascertain the genuineness of medical claims submitted by teachers seeking transfers on the grounds of terminal illnesses affecting themselves, their spouses, or their children.

Guru Prasad Mahanta, Koraput’s chief district medical and public health officer, said a team of specialist doctors from the SLN Medical College and Hospital has been constituted to conduct the examinations. “The medical assessments will be held at the clinical lecture theatre of the medical college in accordance with guidelines issued by the state directorate of elementary education,” he added.
