Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi participated in International Yoga Day events organised by the Indian Army in Shillong and Tezpur on June 21, 2026. Singh, who attended the celebration at Eastern Air Command in Shillong, urged everyone to make yoga an integral part of their lives. In a post on social media platform X, he shared a video of the event and wrote, "Celebrating the International Yoga Day at Eastern Air Command in Shillong. I urge everyone to make Yoga an integral part of their lives."
Army Chief Highlights Yoga's Meaning
In Tezpur, Sonitpur district of Assam, General Upendra Dwivedi led a yoga session organised by the Indian Army. Addressing the participants, he explained the literal meaning of yoga as "to unite." He emphasised that when individuals connect with yoga, they achieve harmony between mind, body, and soul. The event saw active participation from army personnel and their families.
