Vijayawada is witnessing extensive preparations for the state-level International Yoga Day celebrations, scheduled for Sunday at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and yoga guru Baba Ramdev are set to participate in the Yogandhra programme, drawing a large crowd.
Massive Arrangements at the Stadium
Authorities have intensified preparations at the venue, which is expected to host around 5,000 participants. The stadium has been divided into 24 blocks and seven galleries, with dedicated teams of officials, yoga trainers, medical personnel, sanitation staff, and police officers assigned to each section to ensure smooth conduct of the event.
Review and Inspection
Health minister and NTR district in-charge minister Satya Kumar Yadav on Friday reviewed the arrangements along with district collector G Lakshmisha and VMC commissioner H M Dhyanachandra. The team inspected participant seating areas, parking facilities, drinking water arrangements, medical camps, sanitation measures, power backup systems, and security arrangements.
Elaborate Setup
Officials said elaborate arrangements are being made to manage the large gathering. Apart from the main yoga arena, a cultural stage, yoga demonstration platform, and digital display screens are being set up at the stadium. Yoga mats are being arranged according to a detailed layout plan, and separate teams have been deployed to oversee every block and gallery.
Yoga Sessions Beyond the Stadium
The Yogandhra celebrations will not be confined to the stadium alone. Yoga sessions are also scheduled at BRTS Road, Riverfront Park, Berm Park, Smriti Vanam, schools, colleges, secretariats, and other public spaces across the city.
Traffic and Security Plans
Officials said detailed traffic and security arrangements will be announced ahead of the event to ensure smooth movement and safety for all participants.
