Simone Biles Opens Up About Cosmetic Surgeries

Simone Biles Breaks Silence on Personal Transformation

Olympic superstar Simone Biles has joined the small group of athletes who have openly discussed undergoing cosmetic surgeries while dealing with body-image concerns. The gymnastics legend made this personal revelation after initially hinting at the procedures in a TikTok video that sparked widespread speculation among her followers.

While the champion athlete didn't specify the exact nature of her surgeries in the original video, she later provided detailed clarifications in response to fan comments. Known for her transparent approach to mental health discussions, Biles explained that speaking honestly about her experiences helps her feel more authentic and emotionally lighter.

Three Personal Procedures Revealed

In an exclusive conversation with People.com, Biles elaborated on her decision to undergo three specific cosmetic procedures. She expressed her hope that young women would understand that choosing cosmetic enhancements is a personal decision that carries no shame. The gymnastics icon revealed she had undergone breast augmentation, lower blepharoplasty to address under-eye bags, and earlobe repair after her earrings were accidentally torn out.

"I believe it's important to show young girls that they have the right to make their own choices about their bodies, whatever those choices may be, and that there should be no shame attached to them," Biles stated. For the celebrated athlete, the ultimate goal was to achieve body acceptance on her own terms.

Overcoming Professional Challenges

Simone Biles also reflected on her journey to rebuild confidence after experiencing the terrifying 'twisties' during the Tokyo Olympics. This condition, which causes gymnasts to lose spatial awareness during aerial maneuvers, forced her withdrawal from several events at the 2021 Games.

In her interview with olympics.com, the 28-year-old champion disclosed that she encountered the twisties twice after the Tokyo Olympics and had to dedicate significant effort to regain her sense of security in the sport. "There were only one or two instances where I felt completely lost in the air," she recalled.

The Olympic gold medalist credited her support team for helping her maintain composure during these challenging periods. "We understood how to manage all the emotions, feelings, and doubts that emerged. We avoided panicking and instead adopted a methodical approach, reminding ourselves: 'It's okay. Let's stay calm. We'll return to basics and gradually build back up.'"

Biles shared that her coach, Laurent Landi, played a crucial role in her recovery by encouraging her to trust her training process and challenging her to attempt complex maneuvers like 'double-doubles.' She admitted that occasionally she still worried about losing her orientation during routines if her concentration wavered.

Despite these persistent concerns, Biles demonstrated remarkable resilience by making a triumphant return to competitive gymnastics. Her comeback culminated in an extraordinary performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she secured three gold medals and one silver medal, cementing her status as one of gymnastics' all-time greats.
